Chennai Law College Violence!

Posted by Varun | | Posted On Sunday, November 16, 2008 at 10:01 AM

I am sad and so much disappointed after seeing the video footage of the Chennai Law College Violence which took place last week!

The video is so disturbing with couple of law students so badly beaten up with wooden sticks and rods by their fellow college mates. Even more disturbing was the inactivity of the State police which was just a spectator to all this violence.

Can you guess the reason behind this violence??? Wel even i took some time to believe that this also could be a cause for some serious violence. The reason was that one of the college group didnt have Dr. Ambedkar ( The person after whom the college is named ) 's photo in their poster. If Dr. Ambedkhar would have been alive to see this he would have regretted so much .

I am sure Non-Indians would be wondering what kind of people are we! We preach about many great things like secularism , democracy and what not, but fail miserably to practice it in it true senses. Here in this incident the future law and justice providers are themselves breaking the law for such a petty issue! Wel I want you to have a look at the video yourself so that you can realise the situation .

Wonder When my country will get rid of all this and be in the Elite Club. All great things doesnt happen overnight and it requires a beginning! The beginning is here and will start soon with the new generation of educated and qualified leaders coming up and giving a practical shape to India's vision .

Stay tuned!

The US Trip had been really fruitful both personally and professionally. I visited many places there ( Niagara Falls , New york , WashingTon DC , Philadelphia and Baltimore ) . I made many new friends and and made a career path there. Now I need to sincerely follow and implement the path which i have made for myself. Journey from now onwards would be tough and i need to be extra strong to keep myself going.

Everyone liked the gifts which i had bought for my family members. For my sisters (Poonam and JES ) I had got them a unique engraved IPOD. They were so happy and seeing them happy i was so satisfied . My Best Friend Priya for whom I got the maximum gifts , her joy had no boundaries when she received the gift from me :) . For my Bro, i had got so many T-shirts , caps and Shoes.

I am off to Boston! - The City of Education

Posted by Varun | Labels: | Posted On Monday, July 7, 2008 at 2:58 AM

Hi All,
I
I have just started from my place to Chennai International Airport for Boston! My Entire Family including Poonam and priya along with their parents have come down to see me off. I am very much excited on the prospect of visiting other country. I could find a sense of achievement in my dad 's face since it was his dream that his son travel to US and So i was all set to fulfill his dream. Mom as usual was in a semi nervous mood and tensed since she was quite sad at the thought of me going alone there for three months.
I just reached Chennai S International Airport say around 10.30 pm. I was surprised to see the departure terminal jam packed like a Local State corporation Bus Station. The Infrastructure was so inadequate that for getting my luggage screened and checked in it took me a couple of hours. All this time all my relatives were so patienly waiting for me, After getting the first hurdle cleared~ i just went and met all of my relatives for few minutes since there were many visitors across the barricades and Iron Rod Bars which was separting us. I just got wishes from everyone and headed staright for the Immigration Checking. After seeing MOM i am sure if i would have seen there for another few seconds she would have broken down which would have made me although more sad .
Again there was a huge Queue at the Immigiration counter, I got my Form filled up while i was in queue and say in 20 odd minutes i got my immigiration checked and proceeded towards Security Check In.
Oh I just forgot to inform you at this point of time My flight was delayed by couple of hours with the expected time of departure at 3.30 am due to late arrival of Air France Aircraft from Paris, I guess this should not be a problem since my connecting Flight from Boston to Paris was scheduled after a gap of five hours after my arrival at Paris Charles De Gaulle International Airport.
The Flight AF 201 Finally arrived at the Paris International Airport delayed by three and half hours. Most of the Co-passengers have already missed their connecting flights to various cities. But luckily I still had close to 1 and half hour to make it for my connecting flight to Boston. I rushed from Terminal C to Terminal 2E. Got my hand luggaged screened in and made it to the Boston Flight~ on time :)
Paris Airport i felt is itself a city. Its huge and its Infrastructre was so mindblowing. Wonder When Indian Airports would reach that. I was waiting for about Half an Hour at paris for the Boston Flight! Everywhere i saw White people and I must say that gals all round were so beautiful and Hot :) It was a wonderful sightseeing altogether :)
Around 2 o clock I boarded the Air France jet to Boston.Plane such a huge one i mean much bigger than my Chennai Paris Flight.
My seat was at the rear of the plane so had to my way all the length of the plane. After getting settled down , i was served Asian Meals ( I specialy ordered for it while booking the ticket ) and ASian Snacks! Initally It was good to have bread/ toast but after sometime it was getting monotonous :(
I landed Boston at 3 pm EST and WEnt for the Custom Immigiration Check. I was asked a few questions as to why i have come down to US and which client. After convinving me he stamped by passport for 3 months till OCtober 5th 2008.
My Cousin (Varun) along with this friend (Karthik) in his Toyota was bang on Time to pick me up at Boston Logan International Airport. We headed straight to Varun's house in Waltham, Boston Suburban. Neethi and Shobha Bhabi were waiting for my arrival and gave me a warm welcome. Neethi Bhabi was really helpful and helped me a lot to get accoustmed to the place :)
I am feeling really lucky coz i am in the midst of my Home inpsite being away from Home.
Looking forward to have a nice time in Boston both Professionally and personally.
I will keep on updating my blog :) so stay tuned!

Training @ Oracle University

Posted by Varun | Labels: | Posted On Friday, May 23, 2008 at 7:34 PM

Hey friends!

Hope that everyone would be doing good and in pink of their health. I always try to be regular and consistent in updating my blog but somehow i fail to do that! Now i guess i need to take some stern and strict steps to make myself more disclipined and focussed towards blogging and other important stuffs.

Wel guys, I have been in Bangalore for the past 6 days.

Reason : I am among the one of the few employees of Wipro from Oracle who have been nominated to attend a training on Oracle s latest product ( Application Server and SOA Suite) in Oracle University.

This product of Oracle on which i have attended the training is termed as the next generation technology. So obviously , Wipro being leader in Oracle Implementation is being foresighted and training its workforce to gear up for the future projects.

We were all together 16 guys from WIPRO who attended this training. Most of them were around 8 + years of experience. Only two folks including me were a mere 2 years of exp. in that batch. Overall the Training was good but there were few moments when the trainer 's words were just going about my head.

Loved the six days stay at the Corporate guest house where i stayed. All the facilities were made available to me. The best day was yesterday when i got a surprise. It was all setup by my friends Devesh and Aparna. They called me out for dinner on Saturday . I finished my training on Saturday around 7 0 clock and just headed towards the place where these guys were waiting for me. We went to a restaraunt called "BAY LEAF". Suddenly the Happy Birthday song is played and there is a cake in front of me. I am about to celebrate my bday on 3rd of June. So it was the pre-mature celebration of my bday. I was really surprised since i didnt expect this. Thanks to Devesh and Aparna for the sweet little surprise.

Wel today i am leaving to HOT Chennai, leaving behind COOL Bangalore Tomorrow, I will be back home and get my act together to work on a new career plan .

Also i have decided to start blogging on Oracle Articles to keep in pace with the technology. Will keep you updated on that.

Stay Tuned!

An Appeal to the generous and Kind Hearted people

Posted by Varun | | Posted On Monday, May 5, 2008 at 2:38 AM

Hello Friends,
Many times our hearts melt to see people who are devoid of basic needs, children deprived of education, elder seeking for affection and young women begging for alms. Some spirit urges us to do something for them, but often we give up or postpone those thoughts not because of money, but due to scarcity of time and lack of focus. For this , I have taken an initative of getting the Funds generated from my friends ( only those you have a sense of responsibility towards deprived section of the society ) and then spend it towards the upliftment of the downtrodden and under-privileged. I primarily believe that each and every person has got social responsibility and especially those persons who had an opportunity to get better education and living conditions, they should extend a helping hand to those less fortunate people who are very much below in the society and show light to their lives so that these less fortunate children can also get an opportunity to lead a happy and peaceful life and thus bring down the social imbalance which is the root cause for the current day turmoil in the society. This social imbalance is the root cause for increasing criminalism, anti-social and anti-national activities where these less fortunate children of the society are made scapegoats and victims because of want of opportunity to come up in life, If these children are shown light they too can lead a decent living and become good citizens. These objectives can be achieved only if educated and elite people like us take the responsibility and lead the path for these abandoned children of the society.

I request you and your friends to join and help us to help the helpless. You can contribute in what ever way you can to bring back the lost smiles and creating a better future for those deprived ones. Even a single rupee from you will be valued and definitely reach the beneficiary through me . Hope you have a noble heart and reachable hands to dry the tears on watery faces.Your donation will be spent to fulfill your dreams of humanitarianism. If you would like to make any type of contribution, Please drop me a mail @
singhi.varun@gmail.com. I will get in touch with you to the earliest.
I bow to those who donate their hard-earned money / time towards the betterment of society.
Thanks a million for your support!

Love @ First Sight :-)

Posted by Varun | Labels: | Posted On Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 9:54 AM

Friends,
I am in love and believe me that too @ the first sight. You must be eager to know as to when did i got struck by the stupid cupid and who is that lucky gal :). Hold on I will answer all your queries .Hmmm wel that most fortunate gal's name is HP Pavilion and is right on the top. I am in love with my new Laptop :-)
It has been a very very long wait for me to get my first laptop. Actually i have ordered my laptop in the month of Jan '08 but got its delivery only in the month of April . Only God and Me knows how the three months have gone by in the anticipation of seeing the glimpse of my laptop. The reason behind so much anxiety and curiosity is very obvious, I have got it some my own hard earned money. It feels good and sense of satisfaction.

And let me come to answer the question why the delay of three odd months in getting my laptop. My Laptop is procured from US and the model which i have got is a high end configuration which is not yet launched in INDIA. ( Feeling a bit proud at this point of time ) . One of my team colleagues had gone to US on a business trip. Initally the trip was planned for a one month , infact less than a month. So i thought it to be a good opportunity to ask him to bring a laptop for me from US coz he will be back soon . So within a week of he reaching Boston ( my client 's head quarters) i asked him to buy a HP pavilion Laptop for me. But after that my joy was shortlived. His trip was extended for one more month. This was a very very sad news. Somehow i managed to make myself calm and controlled my emotions. Made a small calender in my home and made a count of days for his return. Everyday used to mark out the day from the hand made calender.Thinking of the number of days remaining always made me happy and smile. In the mean time i used to see the snaps of my laptop which my colleague has send me from there.Still remember that black day when i got an email that abiran( my colleague ) 's trip has been extended by another month. AFter reading that mail i was on a look out for a wall where i can bang my head. I had lost my total charm and enthusiasm and was like ' aana Hoga tho aa jayega ,varna BHAAD mein Jaaye.' - meaning if it wants to come let it come otherwise let it go to hell.

It took a couple of days for me to completely make my thinking free of Laptop. Finally the day was arriving near when Abiran 's Visa was about to get expired. Now at least i was happy that there is no possbility for the extension atleast this time.:-)

And The Judgement day arrived when i got the delivery of my laptop. In my excitement to see the laptop , i forgot the thank the person who had brought my lappy all the way from BOSTON to India clearing a number of custom officers at various airports. Actually some airlines and airports have a strict policy of the Passenger carrying a single laptop with him. All the electronics stuff come under the scanner at the airports like Mumbai. This was the only thing which i was worried off. But luckily everything went off smoothly.
I am writing this article from the heart of my love Laptop while sitting in a corner seat of CCD.

My next article on this blog will be a more of like an request to all the fortunate and privileged people to help the less fortunate.
So Stay Tuned.

Beware of Fake Consultants - You Might be Trapped !

Posted by Varun | | Posted On Monday, April 7, 2008 at 10:57 PM

Hi Everybody!

Once again started blogging after a long gap for almost two months. This time i haven't selected a political or business related issues because I always wanted this blog as a reflection of a glimpse of my personal life and not a 24 X 7 news Channel. Bit hard to do that.. but surely will work on that

It was a bit lazy monday morning and I got a call from an unknown number. On receiving the call i was very glad to know that it was a call from one of my college senior Prasanna who is currently working in INFOSYS. The purpose behind this call was actually that he wanted to enquire about the authenticity of a job offer from WIPRO TECHNOLOGIES. I was like.. why the hell he wants to check the authencity of the offer when its from WIPRO. I asked him to forward me the mail which he received from WIPRO.

I was quite astonished to see that mail.. Reason you will come to very soon. In fact i have never seen such a poorly drafted official mail where the word 'LETTER' is being mentioned as 'LATTER' :-) I checked the Address directory of WIPRO whether the sender of that almost fake mail really exists on the rolls of WIPRO. And guess what, there is no person by that name in WIPRO. I have forwarded a word of caution to the HRs in Wipro regarding this so that fake job consultancies don't misuse the names of MNC's and potential job seekers getting trapped
Have a look at the mail which my friend received.

Software Giant Microsoft in the process of acquiring YAHOO!

Posted by Varun | | Posted On Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 1:42 AM

Just woke up a bit late coz its a Saturday. the day which every working professional would forward to after a hectic 5 days of non-stop work. For a change i started readin THE ECONOMIC TImes first today ahead of the HINDU. and the front page headlines made me so mush engrossed that i read the entire ECONOMIC times for the first time in my life..

The News was " MICROSOFT Acquiring YAHOO! "

Can you believe this news.. One Giant buyin another giant.. Microsoft has agreed for an unsolicited $44.2 billion buyout for the prominent player in Internet Search services and adveristing business Yahoo! This acquisition is a strategic move to challenge the GOOGLE 's dominance in nternet Search services and adveristing market.

Microsoft 's oFFER of 31$ per share in cash or Microsoft's Stocks is 62% more than Yahoo 's Closing price on thursday. This Offer is defintely so much tempting from Yahoo 's Shareholder point of view that experts think that this deal is very much on. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is attempting the biggest ever technology takeover in the history of Internet Business. ANalysts feel that this move shows that how the Software giant is desperate in order to regain its lost market share in Internet Business to GOOGLE which has grown more every quarter than Microsoft ever since its IPO in 2004. Ever since Microsoft bought the HOTMAIL email from Sabeer Bhatia for a whopping $ 400 million , its market share has shown a exponential downfall. The main reason behind this that Microsoft was a bit late in realising the potential of Internet.

Back In India where both Yahoo and Microsft have its Research and Development Centres in Bangalore and Hyderabad respectively , the reverberations have already began due to this news. Primary reason for this could that the technology platforms operate on a entirely different basis. Microsoft works on Platforms which produces Software products and Yahoo works on platforms which are on online space. Many Techies are of the opinion that the integration of both the companies might lead to a number of problems due to the differences in working environment and services offered. But Microsoft CEO Ballmer justifying all the experts and critics feels that the combined entity would create a more competitive firm providing superior values to shareholders, better choice and innovation for customers and partners.

Now the milion dollar question ahead is WIll the Board members of YAHOO! go ahead with this deal.? Wel i personally feel that at this point of time when YAHOO! is going through a lean phase with dropping revenues and profits every quarter, they don't have a better choice than to go ahead with this deal.If you could see in the starting of this article , i have referred to this move by microsoft a strategic one. I will justify this now coz if the deal goes on, Microsoft on one hand will lose one of it competitor YAHOO! and on the other hand the combined entity of Microsoft and Yahoo will give a tough competition to GOOGLE . ALso Microsoft 's market share in the Internet Business will take a giant leap as it will now have million plus users of yahoo under its belt.

Now I am eagerly waiting For the Next Movement from GOOGLE in answer to Microsoft 's strategic move.

TATA NANO-- Common Man 's Dream on the Verge of being fulfilled

Posted by Varun | | Posted On Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 9:24 PM

Very Soon TATA Nano.. is gonna be a household name.

I really appreciate the determination of Mr. Ratan Tata for keeping up his promise of producing the world's cheapest car. Manufacturing a car for Just rupees one lakh with oil and steel prices rising, keeping the safety aspects in mind and the also from the environment friendly point of view, it always seemed to be a difficult task , But the TATA's like always they do took up the challenge and succeeded in delivering in the People 's car which is now been referred to as the "Future Car"

I have read a few reviews of TATA Nano . Everywhere one thing was in common-People all over are eagerly waiting for Nano to hit the road. No more car would be considered as a symbol of status for rich and upper class people. It has now become the common man's dream thanks to the TATA's.

It is a revolution in the field of Automobiles for instance the cheapest car in the US costs $10000 , people can buy four Tata Nanos for the same price. It is not the price alone that matters but what makes the Tata Nano really special is that despite its low price no comprise has been made on safety and quality. It comes with State of the art features with a rear mounted all aluminium two cylinder 623 cc petrol engine with an expected mileage of 20km per Litre. Experts say
( I am referring to myself :-)) that Tata Nano will also determine India's place in the global automotive arena and possibly give a boost to India's dream of becoming a global hub of small cars.

As it has been said that everything has its own pros and cons ,I was just wondering whether the emergence of this car would have any kind of impact. Just imagine , politicans are demanding a reservation for parking space all over the country for Tata Nano. Servants/Maid coming late due to tyre puncture of their Nano. Tata Nano has definitely forced the global automotive players to rethink about this small car segment. Pollution already reaching alarming levels will touch new heights after introduction of many small cars in the market.Year 2008 will witness the launch of another 40 new models on Indian Roads. With Cars increasing at such an pace, environmentalists will be definitely be more concerned about its impact on weather.

Before signing off, One Final word. TATA Nano is not Just a one lakh rupee car, its India 's answer to their critics who always have a doubt about India's technical competence on global scene.

There 's Lot to more to come.. Nano is just a humble beginning. The World will see more as to what we Indians are capable of.

Stay tuned!
